Sunday's Week 2 road matchup against Tennessee could be the perfect backdrop for an explosive performance from Saquon Barkley. The Philadelphia Eagles only need to give Barkley a crease to hit homeruns. Once he reaches the second level with room to accelerate, a routine running play can quickly become an explosive gain.
Tennessee is vulnerable and looking for a win, and during his weekly “Whiteboard Wednesday” segment, ESPN Titans reporter Turron Davenport illustrated one way Philadelphia can get Barkley into the alley during Sunday’s matchup at Nissan Stadium. The play design uses formation, motion, and blocking angles to stress Tennessee horizontally. Philadelphia can force the defense to react before the snap, secure the edge, and create a clear
path for Barkley toward the perimeter. If the Eagles’ blockers seal the inside pursuit, Barkley could find himself isolated against a defensive back with room to make one cut and go.

That is precisely the type of situation Philadelphia wants to create. Barkley rushed for 83 yards on 15 carries against Washington, including a 42-yard run that displayed his ability to turn a small opening into a field-flipping play.
Titans coach Robert Saleh acknowledged that defending the edge requires more than Tennessee’s defensive ends. Tennessee's outside linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties must maintain their leverage while interior defenders prevent Barkley from cutting back across the formation.
“It’s not just the defensive ends,” Saleh said.
Tennessee allowed Breece Hall to rush for 102 yards in its Week 1 loss to the Jets. Philadelphia should test that Titans run defense early with motion, misdirection, and perimeter concepts designed to get Barkley moving downhill and into space.
If Tennessee loses its edge discipline, Barkley has the speed to turn Davenport’s whiteboard example into a home-run play.
