Saquon Barkley will enter Week 1 with a remarkable run of production against Washington.
Barkley has recorded at least 115 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown in six consecutive games against the Commanders. He will attempt to extend that streak when Philadelphia opens its season at Lincoln Financial Field.
The matchup favors the Eagles' rushing attack, which remains built around Barkley. Washington ranked 30th against the run last season, surrendering 141.8 yards per game. Barkley rushed for 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. He added 273 receiving yards and two scores, giving him 1,413 yards from scrimmage. Since entering the NFL in 2018, Barkley ranks second with 8,356 rushing yards and third with 11,007 scrimmage yards. He became
the sixth player in league history to record at least 7,500 rushing yards and 2,500 receiving yards over his first 100 games.
Washington added personnel to its defense, but Philadelphia can still attack behind an offensive line anchored by Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson. A productive Barkley performance would help control possession, slow Washington’s pass rush, and create favorable play-action opportunities for Jalen Hurts.
