Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Drew Kendall were among seven Philadelphia Eagles who did not practice Wednesday as the team began preparations for its Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Philadelphia listed 11 players on its first injury report of the week, released Wednesday after Cam Jurgens was tradedto Baltimore and one day after Lane Johnson announced his retirement.
Kendall’s knee injury adds another concern to an offensive line already undergoing significant changes. He had taken over at center after Jurgens moved to left guard, making his availability particularly important as Philadelphia determines its starting combination without Jurgens, Johnson and the injured Landon Dickerson.
Fred Johnson also appeared on the report,
listed as limited with a knee injury. Rookie Markel Bell, who started at right tackle against the Rams, projects to get the first opportunity to replace Lane Johnson.

Barkley and Smith did not practice because of hamstring injuries. Barkley left Sunday’s loss to the Rams, while Smith missed that game. Wide receiver Hollywood Brown remained sidelined with an ankle injury, leaving Philadelphia to monitor three significant offensive contributors as the week progresses.
The defense also had several absences. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell did not practice with a knee injury, safety Marcus Epps was sidelined with a groin injury, and edge rusher Jonathan Greenard did not participate because of an ankle injury.
Linebacker Zack Baun was listed as limited with a concussion. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who left the Rams game with a knee injury, was also listed as limited. Tight end Dallas Goedert was listed as limited with a knee injury, giving Philadelphia another offensive player to monitor before Sunday. Wednesday’s participation report leaves several lineup decisions unresolved. Kendall’s progress will be especially consequential as the Eagles attempt to establish continuity along their reshaped offensive line.
