Former Philadelphia Eagles guard Mekhi Becton is signing with the Green Bay Packers after working out for the team Monday morning, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
The move takes a familiar name off the market for Eagles fans who called for a reunion as Philadelphia faced questions along its offensive line. Becton helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl after moving from tackle to right guard during the 2024 season. His size and power made him a valuable part of the line in front of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.
Becton later left Philadelphia for the Los Angeles Chargers and was a free agent before Green Bay brought him in for Monday’s workout. Fowler reported that the former top-10 draft pick is healthy and that the Packers were seeking reinforcements
up front.
For the Eagles, the appeal of a reunion was easy to understand. Landon Dickerson’s absence has forced interior adjustments, and Becton had already shown he could play guard in Philadelphia. However, the Eagles reported no interest, and Green Bay moved to sign him.
Philadelphia must continue working through its current options while Becton gets his next opportunity with an NFC opponent.
