A.J. Brown is sending his support to Jalen Hurts as his former Eagles teammate faces a recovery that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Speaking to reporters Tuesday, the Patriots wide receiver offered prayers and expressed his affection for Hurts after learning of the quarterback’s blood clot diagnosis.
“Got a lot of love and respect for him, I’m praying for him,” Brown said in a video shared by Patriots on CLNS.
Brown also expressed confidence in Hurts’ ability to navigate the difficult situation.
“He’s a tough guy and he can handle anything,” Brown said.
The message comes after Hurts was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, or blood clots in both lungs. Hurts is clinically stable and receiving blood thinners,
with a full recovery expected, according to the statement released by the Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn. His treatment prevents him from participating in contact sports.

Brown and Hurts spent four seasons together in Philadelphia, helping the Eagles reach two Super Bowls and win Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia traded Brown to New England in June, ending one of the most productive quarterback-receiver partnerships in franchise history.
“I pray God continue to keep his hand on him,” Brown said.
Their time as teammates has ended, but Brown’s comments Tuesday reflected the connection that remains. He focused on Hurts’ health and his hope for a successful recovery.
