The Eagles have star power at just about every key position entering Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. Howie Roseman has been diligent in building a Super Bowl contender; this year, their championship expectations rest on several complete position groups.
We're ranking the five deepest as preparation for the Commanders getting set to begin.
1. Offensive line
Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen and Lane Johnson form an elite starting five. Fred Johnson provides experience, while Willie Lampkin, Drew Kendall, Micah Morris and Markel Bell give Chris Kuper young depth to develop.
2. Defensive tackle
Jalen Carter can dominate games from the interior, while Jordan Davis has developed into a more complete defender. Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, and Byron Young allow Fangio
to rotate without suffering a significant decline.
3. Cornerback
Quinyon Mitchell and Riq Woolen give Philadelphia two long outside cornerbacks. Cooper DeJean is an elite nickel option who can also play safety. Michael Carter II, Kelee Ringo, Jonathan Jones and Mac McWilliams provide experienced and developmental depth.
4. Running back
Saquon Barkley remains the centerpiece. Tank Bigsby provides power behind him, while Will Shipley offers speed, receiving ability and special-teams value. The Eagles can reduce Barkley’s workload without abandoning the running game.
5. Linebacker
Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell give Philadelphia unusual versatility. Both can cover, rush, and play in space. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Smael Mondon Jr. provide athletic depth.
Final analysis
Wide receiver narrowly misses the list. DeVonta Smith is elite, but Philadelphia must determine how Brown, Wicks, Lemon, Moore, and Cooper fit behind him.
