Quinyon Mitchell’s rapid rise from promising first-round pick to one of the NFL’s premier cornerbacks has earned another significant honor.
The Philadelphia Eagles standout landed at No. 47 in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026, the annual ranking determined by votes from players around the league. Mitchell’s placement among the NFL’s top 50 players follows an All-Pro campaign in which he established himself as one of football’s most difficult defenders to target.
Elite coverage metrics supported Mitchell’s recognition. According to Next Gen Stats, he led all NFL cornerbacks with a 42.4% catch rate allowed and an average target separation of 1.8 yards among defenders who faced at least 60 targets.
He also forced tight-window throws on 41.2% of his
targets, finishing narrowly behind Denver Broncos star Patrick Surtain II, who led qualifying cornerbacks at 41.3%. Mitchell allowed only 2.3 yards after the catch per reception, tying Keisean Nixon’s mark among cornerbacks who surrendered at least 35 completions.

The production extended well beyond preventing catches. Mitchell finished third among cornerbacks with a 63.4 passer rating allowed, trailing only Derek Stingley Jr. at 57.9 and Joey Porter Jr. at 61.5. His 16 forced incompletions tied for third at the position behind Riley Moss, who recorded 21, and A.J. Terrell, who finished with 18.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic was Mitchell’s ability to keep opponents out of the end zone. He was the NFL’s only cornerback who played more than 600 coverage snaps without allowing a touchdown.
Those numbers illustrate why Mitchell has become essential to Philadelphia’s defensive identity. The former Toledo standout, whom the Eagles selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, has quickly developed into a defender capable of following premier receivers and handling difficult assignments without consistent safety assistance.
The No. 47 ranking also reflects how quickly Mitchell has earned respect beyond Philadelphia. He is no longer viewed simply as one of the league’s most promising young cornerbacks. Following his All-Pro performance in 2025, his peers recognize him as one of the NFL’s best players at any position.
