Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens believes Jalen Hurts has already established himself as one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. During an interview with RotoGrinders, Owens called Hurts a top-two or top-three quarterback and criticized analysts who have ranked the Eagles’ starter outside the league’s upper tier.
Owens argued that Hurts’ résumé and ability to win should carry more weight than traditional passing statistics or stylistic preferences. Owens said Hurts may not consistently produce the gaudy passing numbers associated with Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, or Josh Allen. He views the results, however, as more important than how Hurts accumulates them.
“To not have him in the top five is just stupid,” Owens
said.
Owens believes Hurts has done everything expected of an elite quarterback, despite playing a style that may not draw the same attention as some of his contemporaries. He described Hurts as a player who has kept improving while giving Philadelphia what it needs to win. Hurts’ placement in quarterback rankings has remained a source of national debate, but Owens sees little ambiguity. In his view, evaluating the position must extend beyond passing volume, arm talent, or highlight plays. The most important standard is whether the quarterback can lead his team to victories. Owens believes Hurts has repeatedly met that standard and deserves to be evaluated accordingly.
