The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Los Angeles Rams without six players, including several prominent starters on both sides of the ball.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith, linebacker Zack Baun, safety Marcus Epps, wide receiver Hollywood Brown, tight end Dallas Goedert, and offensive tackle Fred Johnson are out. Smith and Baun did not practice during the week because of hamstring and concussion issues, respectively, while Epps did not participate Friday because of a groin injury. Smith’s absence creates larger roles for Dontayvion Wicks and rookie Makai Lemon. Wicks has nine receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown through three games, while Lemon should receive another opportunity to expand his route and target shares.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is
expected to replace Baun alongside Jihaad Campbell. The Eagles must also determine who will relay the defensive calls with Baun, their usual green-dot communicator, unavailable. Michael Carter II could receive additional safety work with Epps out, while Cooper DeJean will continue moving between base-safety and nickel responsibilities.
Philadelphia did receive encouraging news elsewhere. Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo and Will Shipley practiced fully Friday and carry no game designation. Campbell was listed as limited Friday because of his knee and rest management but is available.
The Rams ruled out Aaron Donald, Jaylen Watson, and Terrance Ferguson. Puka Nacua practiced fully Friday and has no game designation, putting him on track to return. Tight end Colby Parkinson is questionable.
