The Eagles could have Saquon Barkley back for a Monday night matchup with major implications for their season.
Barkley is expected to return to practice Thursday and is in line to play against the Cowboys, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported. The running back has missed Philadelphia’s past two games after suffering a hamstring injury against the Rams on Oct. 4.
His return would provide a much-needed lift to an offense trying to end a four-game losing streak while navigating Jalen Hurts’ absence.

Barkley has
rushed for 182 yards on 36 carries this season, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, including a 42-yard run. Injuries have limited his opportunities, but that efficiency offers encouragement for a Philadelphia rushing attack searching for consistency.
The Eagles have repeatedly reshuffled their backfield. Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are on injured reserve, while Philadelphia waived Jaydon Blue and, with an injury designation, waived Carson Steele Tuesday. The team also signed Elijah Mitchell to the practice squad and released Ian Wheeler from that unit.
Dameon Pierce carried 12 times for 35 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 25-14 loss to Carolina. Getting Barkley back would give Philadelphia another established option and potentially ease the burden on quarterback Tanner McKee.
Dallas presents an opportunity to improve on the ground. The Cowboys have allowed a league-worst 149.8 rushing yards per game through six weeks, although Philadelphia still must create running lanes to exploit that weakness.
Barkley’s availability still depends on his progress through the practice week. Thursday’s participation and his response afterward will provide the next indication of whether Philadelphia gets its leading running back on the field Monday.
