The Philadelphia Eagles have reached the point where every remaining path toward relevance begins with beating the New York Giants.
Philadelphia will enter Sunday’s matchup at Lincoln Financial Field with a 2-6 record and a six-game losing streak. The Eagles have not won since Sept. 20, and their latest defeat — a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders — dropped them into last place in the NFC East.
The Week 9 matchup carries additional weight because Philadelphia’s bye follows it. A victory would not erase the problems that have defined the first half of the season, but it would give Nick Sirianni’s team two weeks to reorganize around a 3-6 record. A loss would send the Eagles into the break at 2-7 with seven consecutive defeats and little credible
argument that the current approach is working.
Philadelphia’s offense has been held scoreless after the first quarter in consecutive games. Washington also sacked Tanner McKee five times and limited the Eagles to 268 net yards, continuing a stretch in which protection problems, injuries and inconsistent execution have overwhelmed the offense. The Giants game also begins the season's evaluation phase. Philadelphia must determine which young players deserve larger roles and whether changes to the coaching structure, personnel or offensive approach can create tangible improvement.
The Eagles host the Giants at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday before their Week 10 bye. Pittsburgh, Dallas and Arizona follow. Another loss would not mathematically end Philadelphia’s season, but it would make the remaining schedule feel far more like an organizational audit than a playoff pursuit.
