The Eagles made one of the more unique signings of the off-season, adding Super Bowl-winning Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen on a one-year, $15 million deal. Philadelphia’s remodeled secondary will receive a meaningful Week 1 test against a Washington receiving corps filled with experience.
Terry McLaurin remains the Commanders’ leading homegrown threat. He has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in five of his past six seasons, although he was limited to 582 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games last year. Washington added Stefon Diggs after he caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards with New England. Diggs ranks third in receptions, fourth in receiving yards and sixth in touchdown catches since 2015. The Eagles counter with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean
and newcomer Riq Woolen. Woolen has 53 career pass breakups since entering the league in 2022, tied for the second-most over that span.
DeJean established career highs with 85 tackles and 16 passes defensed last season. He also recorded the first two interceptions of his career, including one against Washington.
Philadelphia ranked eighth against the pass in 2025, allowing 189.8 yards per game. Jayden Daniels, however, has recorded 19 total touchdowns against only three interceptions in 12 career road starts.
Limiting Diggs and McLaurin while keeping Daniels inside the pocket will test every level of Vic Fangio’s defense.
