Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will undergo an MRI after suffering a stinger during Sunday’s 24-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday on “Good Morning Football” that the Eagles are hopeful Barkley sustained only a minor injury. The veteran running back returned to the game after initially leaving for further examination.
Barkley was injured on Philadelphia’s opening offensive play after carrying the football up the middle. He went to the medical tent and then the locker room before returning to the sideline wearing additional protection around his neck and shoulder area. The Eagles listed Barkley as questionable to return. He missed the remainder of the first half but reentered the game
during Philadelphia’s opening possession of the third quarter.

Barkley finished with four carries for 9 yards while playing 12 offensive snaps. Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley handled the majority of the backfield workload in his absence. Bigsby scored Philadelphia’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run during the second quarter.
Barkley's return and his ability to play through the injury offer some encouragement, but the MRI should give the Eagles a clearer picture of his condition and availability. Philadelphia improved to 2-0 with the victory. The Eagles will now monitor Barkley’s test results as they begin preparing for their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Barkley’s status should become clearer when Philadelphia releases its first injury report of the week. Rapoport reported that the initial hope is that the injury is minor.
