The Eagles received several standout defensive performances Sunday, but the offense offered too little support in a 19-11 loss to the Giants. Philadelphia recorded six sacks and held New York to 243 yards while scoring only one touchdown.
That contrast shaped the afternoon. The defense repeatedly created chances to win, but protection failures and limited rushing production kept the Eagles from capitalizing. Here are the studs and duds from Philadelphia’s seventh consecutive defeat.
Stud: Zack Baun
Baun recorded seven tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for loss, setting the tone for Philadelphia’s disruptive defensive performance. His downhill attack and ability to finish plays helped keep New York out of the end zone in the first half.
His afternoon was interrupted
by a back injury after a collision with J.J. McCarthy. Baun returned to the sideline, but his availability remained a significant storyline as the Eagles tried to protect a narrow lead.
Stud: Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Trotter led Philadelphia with 11 tackles and added three tackles for loss and a quarterback hit. His production mattered with Jihaad Campbell unavailable and Baun leaving during the second half.
New York’s running backs struggled to find consistent space, and Trotter helped hold the Giants to 80 rushing yards on 31 attempts. He produced meaningfully during a demanding afternoon for the linebacker group.
Stud: Defensive front
Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Jonathan Greenard and Nolan Smith each recorded a sack. Combined with Baun’s two, Philadelphia finished with six after entering the game with 10 through eight contests.
The front also helped hold Devin Singletary to 31 yards on 21 carries. New York’s offensive success came in limited stretches rather than through steady control of the line of scrimmage.
Dud: Pass protection
The Giants collected seven sacks and 11 quarterback hits. Arvell Reese accounted for three sacks and a forced fumble, repeatedly disrupting Milton’s first start at quarterback for the Eagles. Protection breakdowns erased yardage and made it difficult to evaluate the passing game within a stable structure. Philadelphia finished with only 128 net passing yards.
Dud: Conventional rushing attack
Saquon Barkley scored the Eagles’ touchdown, but he gained only 22 yards on 13 carries. Elijah Mitchell added six yards on three attempts. Milton’s 64 rushing yards prevented the overall ground totals from looking worse. Philadelphia needs more reliable production from its designed running game.
Mixed: Braden Mann
Mann produced an 86-yard punt and several important field-position swings. He also finished with a minus-2-yard punt that gave New York favorable positioning. His afternoon contained both an extraordinary highlight and a costly mistake.
