DeVonta Smith gave the Eagles
a much-needed boost on his return, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown, while Dallas Goedert caught six passes for 61 yards. Their production provided two bright spots in Philadelphia’s 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers, its fourth consecutive defeat. Quinyon Mitchell also contributed three passes defended, and Nolan Smith recorded a sack before leaving with an injury. The Eagles’ mistakes and limited offensive production ultimately outweighed those performances. Tanner McKee threw for 215 yards on 45 attempts, Philadelphia managed just 35 rushing yards, and 11 penalties cost the team 84 yards. A bad snap and an eight-yard deflected punt spoiled a fourth-quarter possession near midfield with the Eagles trailing
19-14, helping Carolina put the game away. Here are the studs and duds from Philadelphia’s Week 6 loss.
Philadelphia had individual positives in its 25-14 loss, but too many costly mistakes undermined them.
Stud: DeVonta Smith
Smith returned with seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. His 19-yard score gave the Eagles a fourth-quarter chance.
Stud: Dallas Goedert
Goedert caught six of eight targets for 61 yards, providing McKee with one of his more dependable options.
Stud: Quinyon Mitchell
Mitchell finished with three pass breakups. His work was a positive in a secondary that still allowed several damaging gains.
Dud: Tanner McKee and the passing operation
McKee averaged 4.8 yards per attempt across 45 throws. Avoiding interceptions helped, but the passing game produced too little consistent yardage.
Dud: The rushing attack
Philadelphia gained 35 yards against a vulnerable run defense. Injuries explain the personnel shortage, but the offense still needed more.
Dud: The punt team
Braden Mann punted eight times, including a fourth-quarter punt blocked by Anthony Tyus. Field position remained a problem all afternoon.
