The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of Jalen Hurts’ most dependable targets for the next several weeks.
Dallas Goedert suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday’s 24-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. A test conducted Monday confirmed the injury, which is expected to sideline the veteran tight end for a few weeks. Goedert was injured during the second quarter while blocking on a running play. He went to the medical tent and later returned to the sideline, but the Eagles listed him as questionable, and he did not reenter the game. He finished with one catch for 4 yards.
Although Goedert will miss time, the diagnosis offers some relief because the injury is not expected to end his season.

His absence still creates a significant challenge for an offense already dealing with tight-end injuries. Rookie Eli Stowers is on injured reserve and cannot return until at least Week 5. That leaves Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins as Philadelphia’s primary options on the active roster. Josiah Deguara is available on the practice squad.
Mundt played 49 offensive snaps against Tennessee and caught two passes for 8 yards. Jenkins logged 25 offensive snaps but was not targeted. Goedert opened the season with four catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns against Washington, illustrating the receiving production Philadelphia must replace.
The Eagles could use more multiple-receiver formations while distributing Goedert’s targets among DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and their running backs. Philadelphia may also consider adding another tight end before Monday night’s game against Chicago.
