The Eagles survived their opener with a 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders, while Tennessee suffered a 23-10 loss to the New York Jets. The spread reflects the difference between the two rosters, although Philadelphia did not produce a dominant performance in Week 1. The Eagles finished with only 10 first downs and needed to stop Washington’s late two-point conversion to preserve the victory.
Jalen Hurts provided stability, completing 14 of 25 passes for 203 yards, three t,ouchdowns and no interceptions. He also
rushed for 46 yards, including a 22-yard scramble on third-and-18 during a critical second-half possession.
Philadelphia’s offensive line will be a significant storyline after Landon Dickerson exited the opener with an injury. Nick Sirianni said Tuesday that the Eagles would be without their starting left guard “for the foreseeable future,” but declined to reveal how the line would be configured.
Tennessee generated only 195 yards against New York and now faces a Vic Fangio defense that pressured Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels throughout the opener. The Eagles have several areas to clean up, but their defense and advantage at quarterback explain why oddsmakers expect them to leave Tennessee with a 2-0 record.
