Hollywood Brown hasn't had the role many expected when he joined the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's always great to hear statements like the one made about him recently. Nick Sirianni said the veteran has continued to handle himself like a professional. With DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks ruled out against Dallas, the Eagles could need more from Brown.
Philadelphia is looking for answers on offense and dealing with receiver injuries. Brown's ability to stay ready could become increasingly important. His head coach praised his consistency, pointing to how he approaches meetings and practice, and how Brown has handled the day-to-day work even whenopportunities have been limited.
The coach also highlighted a recent practice catch that stood out
to him, offering a glimpse of the talent the Eagles believe Brown can bring to the offense. Asked what he has seen from Brown behind the scenes, Sirianni acknowledged that the receiver might be disappointed with his playing time but emphasized how he has responded.
“He is a great pro, comes to work every day, just working to get better and paying attention in meetings. He made a catch at practice yesterday. I told him it was one of the best catches I’ve seen in routes on air, the way he adjusted to the ball. He’s highly talented and will bring some great speed to our team, but I’ve just seen the consistency from him of being the same guy every single day, regardless of the circumstances. I’m looking forward to him continuing to develop and add to this football team.”
Sirianni sees the consistency behind the scenes. The praise was notable because Sirianni did not focus solely on Brown's athletic ability. His comments focused on the receiver's preparation and response to a role that hasn't yet met expectations. For a team trying to find more offensive consistency, keeping a player engaged while waiting for opportunities is valuable.
Brown could contribute more. Sirianni's reference to Brown's speed points to one way the receiver could help Philadelphia. The Eagles need ways to stretch the field and create space for the rest of the offense, and Brown's ability to threaten defenses vertically could add another dimension if he gets opportunities.
That doesn't guarantee a larger role, and Sirianni didn't promise Brown's playing time would increase. Still, with the Eagles managing injuries at wide receiver, his readiness could matter more in the coming weeks. His challenge is to turn the work Sirianni praised into production when his number is called.
For now, the coach's message was less about a promised change in playing time and more about the habits Brown has maintained while waiting for one. If his opportunities grow, Philadelphia will need that preparation to translate into a meaningful contribution.
