Eagles injury updates
Wide receiver Johnny Wilson was waived with an injury designation Friday after remaining sidelined with a knee injury. Cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, who had been dealing with a heel injury, was placed on the Injured Reserve.
DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon were limited Thursday because of hamstring injuries. Jalen Carter was excused for personal reasons, while Elijah Moore missed the session with a neck injury.
Jakorian Bennett, Grant Calcaterra, Jonathan Jones, John Ojukwu, Dameon Pierce and Byron Young also missed Thursday’s practice.
Who is starting for Eagles at quarterback against Patriots?
Philadelphia has not announced its starting quarterback. Andy Dalton started the preseason opener in Baltimore, while Tanner McKee received the first second-team opportunities during Thursday’s joint practice.
Both quarterbacks should receive meaningful snaps as they compete to back up Jalen Hurts. Rookie Cole Payton could handle the closing portion of the game after providing Philadelphia’s only touchdown against Baltimore.
