When we talk about expectations placed on Jalen Hurts, we're thinking of games like the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans. We've seen so many flashes that we know he's capable, so that level of consistency becomes the expectation. Hurts completed 70.3% of his passes, connecting on 26 of 37 attempts. He threw for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Titans. So it was a win, asPhiladelphia's QB1 has now won six straight road openers.
The numbers weren't flawless, but Hurts' overall performance was strong, especially when the game reached its most important moments. There were some throws Hurts would like back, but there were also several outstanding moments. Let's take a closer
look before handing out the Week 2 report card.
Jalen Hurts' best throws
On Philadelphia's first third down, Hurts found Dontayvion Wicks for a 27-yard gain. And how's this for those detractors? He found Wicks in the middle of the field, giving the Eagles a huge early conversion.

It is also hard to ignore the brilliance of Hurts' touchdown connection with DeVonta Smith. While behind the chains and facing a second-and-19, Hurts found Smith on a deep crosser for a 22-yard score and Philadelphia's first lead of the afternoon.

Then came the throw that helped save the game. With fewer than 20 seconds remaining, Hurts found Smith for 19 yards on third-and-6, putting the Eagles at the Tennessee 3-yard line. You've seen it on every highlight show. Jalen Hurts... DeVonta Smith... Take a bow, guys.

Jalen Hurts' worst throws
The biggest mistake came at the end of a 15-play, 64-yard drive that lasted 7:40. Hurts threw an interception in the red zone, and Amani Hooker returned it 92 yards to set up first-and-goal at the Philadelphia 8. Makai Lemon's tackle prevented an even bigger disaster, but the Titans scored four plays later.

Hurts also badly missed an open Darius Cooper on a second-and-8 opportunity late in the game. The completion would have produced a first down. The following incompletion on third down forced Philadelphia to punt and gave Tennessee additional momentum. Those are the kinds of plays Hurts will want to see when he watches the film.
Jalen Hurts' Week 2 final report card
It feels like a nice time to give QB1 another straight-A performance. The two interceptions prevent this from being completely spotless, but they don't erase everything Hurts did well.
The first interception was his mistake. The second came with Jeffery Simmons applying pressure and was more defensible, although Hurts still would have preferred a different result. It's also worth mentioning that a pass-protection breakdown by Cam Jurgens and the hit on Hurts helped cause the errant throw.

He also threw passes that could have made life easier for his receivers. Still, Hurts was excellent when Philadelphia needed him most. He didn't flinch during the final drive, and neither did the quarterback who had to make the throws. The Eagles haven't played their best football yet, and they're still 2-0. Hurts has been a major reason why.
