The Philadelphia Eagles aren't entering the 2026 season with many questions at cornerback, but there are a few. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean have already established themselves as All-Pro talents. They are foundational pieces of Vic Fangio's defense, but what about everyone else?
Veteran Riq Woolen was added this offseason to complete what many view as one of the NFL's most talented cornerback trios. Behind them, Kelee Ringo, Mac McWilliams and Jonathan Jones provide additional depth. That doesn't mean the Eagles will stop scouting for possible additions.
Roseman has routinely invested draft capital even when the depth chart appears healthy. Woolen is currently on a one-year deal, while the Eagles have repeatedly shown they prefer to develop
young defensive backs rather than address immediate needs.
With another scouting cycle already underway and college football returning this weekend, here are five cornerbacks who could begin attracting Philadelphia's attention over the next several months. They could land on Philadelphia's radar early if they haven't already.
Leonard Moore, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound corner emerged as one of college football's top young defenders during the Notre Dame Fighting Irish's run to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game nearly two years ago. He followed that effort up with an All-American campaign in 2025. When injuries hit the Irish's secondary, Moore proved capable of handling a larger role and consistently matched up against top receivers.
His combination of size, athleticism, and ball production fits the profile Philadelphia has gravitated toward in recent years. Moore recorded five interceptions and seven pass breakups in 2025 after posting 48 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass breakups as a freshman.
Ashton Hampton, Clemson Tigers
Few defensive backs in the country possess Ashton Hampton's physical dimensions. Listed at 6-foot-3 and more than 200 pounds, the Clemson standout brings the length and physicality NFL teams covet on the perimeter.
Hampton collected 45 tackles, eight pass breakups and an interception last season while continuing to develop into one of the ACC's top cover corners. The biggest question entering 2026 will be his long speed, but his frame and play style already resemble the type of cornerbacks Fangio has historically preferred.
Ellis Robinson IV, Georgia Bulldogs
It's difficult to discuss future NFL defensive backs without mentioning Georgia. Robinson enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2025, totaling four interceptions and seven pass breakups while earning Second-Team All-SEC honors. The former five-star recruit possesses the instincts and ball skills that helped make him one of the nation's most coveted prospects coming out of high school. He still has room to add strength to his frame, but another productive season could cement Robinson among the top defensive prospects in the country.
Vicari Swain, South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina has quietly become a pipeline for NFL defensive backs, and Swain appears poised to continue that trend. Swain's stat line won't immediately jump off the page, but his blend of athleticism, physicality, and versatility has evaluators intrigued.
He finished 2025 with 28 tackles, two interceptions, a sack and five pass breakups while flashing the movement skills teams look for in modern NFL cornerbacks. If he takes another developmental leap this fall, his draft stock could rise quickly.
Zach Lutmer, Iowa Hawkeyes
If there's one thing NFL scouts know, it's to pay attention when Iowa develops a defensive back. Here's someone from Cooper DJean's old stomping grounds.
Zach Lutmer enters the season as one of the more intriguing cornerback prospects in the Big Ten. Iowa's defensive system has consistently produced disciplined, technically sound defensive backs, and Lutmer has already demonstrated many of those same traits.
A strong 2026 season could put him firmly into the national conversation and make him a player worth monitoring throughout the draft process.
Zabien Brown, Alabama Crimson Tide
Zabien Brown enters the 2026 season as one of the SEC's most intriguing cornerback prospects after putting together another productive year for the Crimson Tide. Brown's instincts and ball skills consistently show up on tape, allowing him to create turnovers and make plays on the football. He has the athleticism to thrive in man coverage and the competitive mentality NFL teams covet at the position. With another strong season, Brown could emerge as one of the top cornerbacks in the 2027 draft class and a prospect worth monitoring for a Philadelphia team that never stops investing in premium positions.
It's early, but the scouting never stops.
The Eagles are fortunate to have one of the NFL's strongest cornerback groups entering the season, which means there is no immediate urgency to add another high-end prospect. History suggests, however, that Roseman rarely waits until a need becomes obvious.
With Woolen on a one-year contract and Philadelphia consistently prioritizing premium positions, the Eagles will undoubtedly keep a close eye on the next generation of cornerback talent. As the 2027 draft cycle begins to take shape, these six CB prospects are among the names worth remembering.
