The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2026 season with a re-energized roster talented enough to compete for another Super Bowl appearance, but the path through the NFC will require several prominent players to perform at or near their ceilings.
While the loss of A.J. Brown is tough, Philadelphia’s front office strengthened the secondary, added more options on offense, and replenished several key positions with young talent. Still, championship teams ultimately rely on their foundational players when injuries accumulate, the schedule becomes more challenging, and postseason games are decided by a handful of snaps.
With the regular season approaching, here are the 10 Eagles most important to a potential Super Bowl run.
1. Jalen Hurts
Everything begins with Hurts, who
will be responsible for directing Sean Mannion’s offense while maintaining the efficiency and ball security that defined his 2025 season. Philadelphia can win games with its offensive line, running game, and defense, but its Super Bowl ceiling remains connected to its quarterback. Hurts must distribute the football, punish defenses through the air, and continue creating problems as a runner without exposing himself to unnecessary contact.
2. Jalen Carter
Carter possesses the talent to become the NFL’s most disruptive interior defender. His ability to collapse the pocket, command double-teams, and destroy running plays can change the structure of Vic Fangio’s entire defense. With questions surrounding the consistency of Philadelphia’s edge rush, Carter generating pressure from the middle will be essential.
3. Saquon Barkley
Philadelphia does not need Barkley to carry the offense every week, but his explosiveness forces opponents to devote additional resources to stopping the run. That creates favorable opportunities for Hurts and the passing game. Managing Barkley’s workload will matter, but the Eagles need their most dangerous runner healthy and productive when the postseason arrives.
4. Jordan Mailata
Mailata has developed into one of the NFL’s premier left tackles and remains central to everything Philadelphia wants to accomplish offensively. He protects Hurts’ blind side, creates movement in the running game, and gives Mannion the freedom to call deeper-developing concepts. The Eagles’ offensive identity begins with their line, and Mailata is now its anchor.
5. Quinyon Mitchell
Mitchell has quickly become one of Philadelphia’s most reliable coverage defenders. His ability to handle elite receivers without help from a safety allows Vic Fangio to shift resources elsewhere. The Eagles will face several accomplished quarterbacks and receiving groups, making Mitchell’s consistency especially important.
6. Lane Johnson
Johnson remains one of the league’s most valuable right tackles, even as the Eagles prepare for the possibility that his snaps may require more careful management. Philadelphia’s offense looks different when Johnson is unavailable. His combination of technique, intelligence, and athleticism remains difficult to replace.

The Eagles have more than 10 players capable of influencing their season. DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Jordan Davis and Nolan Smith Jr. will also occupy significant roles.
