The Eagles have officially added Kenny Moore IIto their practice squad, bringing an experienced defensive back to Philadelphia before Monday night’s game against the Bears.
Moore’s signing appeared on the NFL’s Wednesday transaction wire. The move gives Philadelphia a veteran who has played primarily in the slot and could also provide depth at safety. His practice-squad signing does not put him on the game-day roster; the Eagles would need to elevate or sign him to the active roster for him to play in Chicago.
Moore spent nine seasons with Indianapolis before the Colts released him in May. He appeared in 132 games, starting 111, and recorded 21 interceptions, 649 tackles, 11½ sacks, and six forced fumbles. He made the Pro Bowl in 2021. Last season,
he played in 14 games and finished with 51 tackles, six passes defended, 1½ sacks and an interception return for a touchdown.
The Eagles already have Cooper DeJean in the slot and several options across the secondary, so Moore’s role remains undefined. His ability to work at nickel and safety gives Vic Fangio another experienced option as Philadelphia evaluates its depth and prepares for Chicago’s varied formations.
Whether Moore can contribute Monday will depend on how quickly he gets comfortable with the defense and whether the Eagles make a game-day roster move. For now, Philadelphia has added a proven defensive back without committing an active-roster spot.
