Jalen Hurts continues to make his presence felt throughout Philadelphia, and his latest contribution will create a better learning environment for students at Northeast High School. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Jalen Hurts Foundation is investing $600,000 to help fast-track an upgrade to the school’s air-conditioning system. It is the largest donation Hurts’ foundation has made to date. The gift continues Hurts’ commitment to improving conditions inside Philadelphia public schools. In 2024, the Eagles quarterback donated $200,000 to purchase more than 300 air-conditioning units for 10 schools. Those units helped provide adequate cooling for thousands of students and teachers across the district.
Philadelphia has made progress,
but the problem has not disappeared. Fifty-two of the district’s 218 schools entered the 2026-27 academic year without adequate cooling systems. Extreme temperatures have repeatedly forced schools without air conditioning to dismiss students early or transition to remote learning. Older buildings also present complications beyond purchasing air-conditioning units. Many require extensive electrical and infrastructure improvements before modern cooling systems can be installed.
Hurts has established himself as one of Philadelphia’s most visible community leaders since arriving as a second-round pick in 2020. His latest investment goes beyond providing temporary relief. By helping accelerate a permanent upgrade at Northeast High School, Hurts is addressing a problem that directly affects student health, attendance, and uninterrupted learning.
