The Eagles’two remaining games against the Giants have a new quarterback storyline.
Minnesota is trading J.J. McCarthy to New York for a 2027 fifth-round pick, Tom Pelissero reported. The move comes after Jaxson Dart’s knee injury ended his regular season. Jameis Winston stepped in, but the Giants have now added a 2024 first-round pick who could be part of their plans beyond this season.
Philadelphia hosts New York in Week 9 on Nov. 8 and visits the Giants in Week 18. Whether McCarthy starts the first meeting will depend on how quickly he learns the offense and how coach John Harbaugh handles the competition with Winston. The second matchup could carry NFC East or playoff implications.

McCarthy gives New York another option after an abrupt change at the position. He also gives the Eagles another player to study as they prepare for a division opponent they haven't faced this season. For now, Philadelphia’s immediate focus remains Monday night’s game against Chicago. By the time the Giants arrive at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles should have a clearer picture of who will run Harbaugh’s offense.
