The Philadelphia Eagles signed defensive back Kenny Moore II to the active roster Tuesday, promoting the veteran less than one week after adding him to the practice squad.
Moore joined Philadelphia on Sept. 23 after spending his first nine NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. He practiced with the Eagles last week but was not elevated for Monday night’s 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears. His promotion puts him in position to potentially make his Philadelphia debut Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
The move comes at a significant moment for Vic Fangio’s defense. Philadelphia fell to 2-1 after allowing 38-year-old Case Keenum to operate comfortably throughout Monday’s game. The Eagles also failed to force a turnover for the third consecutive
week, increasing the urgency to find dependable playmakers in the secondary.

Moore, 31, brings considerable experience as a slot cornerback and defensive playmaker. The former Pro Bowl selection has appeared in 132 regular-season games, making 111 starts while recording 649 tackles, 21 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, and five defensive touchdowns. He will wear No. 38 for Philadelphia.
The Eagles have listed Moore as a defensive back, giving Fangio flexibility to evaluate him at multiple spots. His slot experience could also let Philadelphia adjust Cooper DeJean’s responsibilities as matchups dictate.
Moore’s promotion does not guarantee an immediate starting role, but it signals that the Eagles believe he can help sooner rather than later. After Monday’s defensive performance, every option should be under consideration entering the matchup with Sean McVay and the Rams.
