Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders have arrived in Philadelphia following one of the shortest road trips they will make during the 2026 season. Jeff Skverskywas on the scene as Daniels and his Commanders teammates arrived in Philadelphia on Saturday evening before Sunday’s season opener against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia are about 140 driving miles apart, with Interstate 95 providing a nearly direct route between the two cities. The trip typically takes two to three hours, depending on traffic. Such an opening-week trip is significantly less demanding than the flights, time-zone changes, and extended travel routines that accompany most NFL road games. Washington could complete its final
preparations at home Saturday before making the short trip north.

The limited travel should allow the Commanders to enter Week 1 without many of the physical disruptions normally associated with playing away from home. However, the destination remains one of the NFL’s more difficult environments for a visiting team. Daniels will be making his first regular-season appearance since returning from the injuries that disrupted his 2025 campaign. He will lead a remodeled offense featuring Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo and Jacory Croskey-Merritt against Vic Fangio’s talented defense.
Geographic proximity has long defined the rivalry. The teams play less than 150 miles apart, allowing their fans and histories to overlap throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Washington did not have to travel far for its opener. The considerably harder part begins Sunday, when Daniels steps onto the field against an Eagles team looking to establish control of the NFC East immediately.
