The Eagles’ uneven offensive start has included slow openings, turnovers, and stretches without sustained production. Their situational numbers, however, reveal a strength worth preserving entering Sunday’s matchup against the Rams.
Philadelphia is tied for seventh in the NFL in third-down conversions at 46.3% and tied for ninth in red-zone touchdown efficiency at 66.7%. Those rankings suggest the offense’s problems cannot be explained solely by an inability to execute on important downs or finish drives near the goal line.
Conversion rates tell only part of the story
A strong red-zone touchdown percentage does not guarantee enough scoring opportunities. An offense must first reach that area, and turnovers or stalled possessions can prevent productive finishing from translating into points.
Third-down efficiency requires similar context. Philadelphia’s season rate includes an 11-for-18 performance against Tennessee, followed by a 2-for-9 showing in Chicago. The overall ranking is encouraging, but the gap between those games shows how much consistency is still missing.
The Eagles need to preserve their successful execution while creating favorable situations more regularly.
Philadelphia needs more chances against Los Angeles
That starts with cleaner early-down football, fewer penalties, and better ball security. Avoiding preventable setbacks could help Philadelphia sustain possessions and give its red-zone offense more opportunities to influence the outcome.
With several offensive contributors unavailable, maintaining those habits becomes especially important against the Rams.
The Eagles already have evidence that they can convert third downs and finish scoring drives. Sunday’s challenge is producing enough opportunities, and enough consistency, for those strengths to show up on the scoreboard.
