After months of waiting, Philadelphia has officially started preparations for the season opener against the Washington Commanders. The Eagles should enter Week 1 with an established offensive line and several decisions to make at wide receiver.
Projected starters:
- QB: Jalen Hurts
- RB: Saquon Barkley
- WR: DeVonta Smith
- WR: Makai Lemon
- WR: Dontayvion Wicks
- TE: Dallas Goedert
- LT: Jordan Mailata
- LG: Landon Dickerson
- C: Cam Jurgens
- RG: Tyler Steen
- RT: Lane Johnson
Smith is Philadelphia’s unquestioned No. 1 receiver. Brown offers vertical speed, while Wicks is the safest projection for the third starting spot because of his size and experience. Rookie Makai Lemon will likely start, while Elijah Moore should also rotate into three-receiver packages.
Sean Mannion could alter the personnel by replacing a receiver with Johnny Mundt or Eli Stowers. Mundt is the more accomplished blocker, while Stowers offers greater receiving upside. Barkley will receive the majority
of the backfield work, with Tank Bigsby expected to spell him on early downs. Will Shipley could handle passing situations and change-of-pace snaps.
The offensive line remains Philadelphia’s foundation. If all five starters are healthy, the Eagles should be able to establish Barkley and give Hurts time to attack a Washington secondary already dealing with injury concerns.
