The Philadelphia Eagles made two roster moves Saturday ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Washington Commanders, elevating running back Elijah Mitchell and linebacker Mason Reiger from the practice squad for Sunday Night Football.
Philadelphia announced the transactions as the team prepares to end a five-game losing streak and address injuries that have depleted several positions.
Mitchell's elevation was expected after the Eagles placed running back Dameon Pierce on injured reserve earlier this week. The veteran running back will provide depth behind Saquon Barkley and Jaydon Blue, giving Philadelphia three available running backs for Sunday's contest.

Barkley returned to practice Friday after missing the previous two sessions with hamstring and back injuries. He participated in a limited capacity but did not receive a game-status designation, putting him on track to face Washington. Mitchell was previously elevated for Monday night's 38-21 loss to Dallas, rushing three times for 11 yards and catching three passes for 23 yards. His ability to contribute as both a runner and receiver could become important if Philadelphia limits Barkley's workload.

Reiger's elevation provides additional depth at linebacker and on special teams.
The former Wisconsin standout joined Philadelphia's practice squad after spending time with Miami. He was named the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl MVP and recorded a sack during the Dolphins' preseason opener against Washington.
Reiger could provide an additional edge option as the Eagles work through injuries to several defensive contributors. Philadelphia will be without linebacker Jihaad Campbell, who was ruled out with hamstring and quadriceps injuries.
The Eagles enter Sunday's game at 2-5, while Washington is 1-4-1. Philadelphia defeated the Commanders 24-22 in Week 1 and will attempt to complete the season sweep at Northwest Stadium.
