The Philadelphia Eagles return to the national spotlight Sunday night when they visit the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium, looking to end a five-game losing streak and regain ground in the NFC East.
Philadelphia (2-5) enters Week 8 following a 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. The Eagles have been dealing with injuries throughout their offense, including the season-ending absence of Jalen Hurts, leaving Tanner McKee to start another important division matchup. The Eagles are also without wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, who have been ruled out because of hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. Running back Saquon Barkley is expected to play after returning to practice Friday, giving Philadelphia a significant
boost against a depleted Washington defensive front.
Washington (1-4-1) enters the matchup following its bye week, with quarterback Jayden Daniels presenting another difficult test for a Philadelphia defense that allowed 204 rushing yards against Dallas. The Eagles won the first meeting 24-22 in Week 1 but have lost every game since their Week 2 victory over Tennessee.
Philadelphia and Washington will meet at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Eagles vs. Commanders: Saquon Barkley expected to play Sunday night
Barkley is expected to be available against Washington after returning to practice Friday following two missed sessions because of hamstring and back injuries. The veteran running back received no final injury designation, a positive development for an Eagles team that placed Dameon Pierce on injured reserve earlier this week.
Philadelphia elevated Elijah Mitchell from the practice squad Saturday, giving the offense another option alongside Barkley and Jaydon Blue.
Eagles vs. Commanders injury updates: Six Philadelphia players ruled out
Philadelphia will be without six players Sunday, including wide receivers DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and Britain Covey; linebacker Jihaad Campbell; and cornerbacks Jonathan Jones and Jakorian Bennett.
Bennett was downgraded from questionable to out Saturday after practicing fully during the week.
Washington will be without defensive tackles Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw, allowing Philadelphia to establish its running game against a depleted interior defensive front.
Eagles inactives
The Eagles' final inactive list will be released approximately 90 minutes before kickoff. The six players ruled out are Smith, Wicks, Covey, Campbell, Jones, and Bennett.
McKee is expected to start, with Joe Milton serving as the backup and Cole Payton available for the emergency quarterback role, subject to the official game-day announcement.
Commanders inactives
Washington will release its official inactive list before kickoff. Payne and Kinlaw are already ruled out, while other game-day decisions will shape the Commanders' available defensive line rotation.

Eagles vs. Commanders notes
Philadelphia's most favorable offensive matchup comes in the red zone. The Eagles have converted 73.7% of their trips into touchdowns, fourth in the NFL, while Washington has allowed opponents to score touchdowns on 81.8% of red-zone possessions.
The biggest question is whether the Eagles can consistently move the football into scoring position without Hurts, Smith and Wicks.
Who is starting at quarterback for the Eagles against Washington?
McKee will continue starting in place of Hurts, who is out for the remainder of the season.
McKee completed 14 of 22 passes for 129 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Dallas. The Eagles will need him to build on his connection with rookie Makai Lemon, who caught his first career touchdown in the loss.
The Eagles also could lean heavily on tight end Dallas Goedert, who has 17 receptions for 147 yards since returning from injury in Week 5.
