NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson apologized to Jalen Hurts after suggesting the Eagles quarterback may have used his calf injury to distance himself from Philadelphia’s struggling season. The former Penn State quarterback and Seahawks fullback’s apology followed comments questioning Hurts’ absence, according to the reports provided. Monday’s medical update underscored the seriousness of the quarterback’s condition: The Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn, announced that further testing revealed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs.

According to their joint statement, Hurts is clinically stable, has no significant functional limitations, and is expected to make a full recovery without long-term effects. He is receiving blood thinners and cannot participate in contact activities during treatment. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Hurts is out for the season.

The Eagles and Lynn said specialists in London initially diagnosed Hurts with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. Additional testing and monitoring confirmed the updated diagnosis, providing important context that speculation about his availability lacked.
Philadelphia’s offensive struggles remain open to scrutiny after four consecutive losses, but no evidence suggested Hurts was using his health situation to abandon the season. Robinson’s apology acknowledges the need to walk back that insinuation as the quarterback undergoes treatment.
For the Eagles, the immediate football task is preparing to compete without their starter. For Hurts, the priority is completing treatment, and the organization has expressed confidence in his eventual recovery.
