The Philadelphia Eagles added another developmental option to their depleted offensive line Wednesday, signing rookie center James Brockermeyer to the practice squad. The transaction came one day after Philadelphia worked out Brockermeyer, according to Zach Berman. The Eagles officially announced the signing before beginning preparations for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Brockermeyer entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie out of Miami after beginning his college career at Alabama and later transferring to TCU. He spent the summer with the Atlanta Falcons, who signed him after the 2026 NFL draft. Atlanta waived him during its final roster reduction, then brought him back to the practice squad. The Falcons released him in September.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, Brockermeyer has worked primarily at center. He started his final college season at Miami and played 825 snaps in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus, earning a 71.0 overall grade and an 83.4 pass-blocking grade. His arrival gives Philadelphia another interior option during a turbulent stretch for the offensive line. Cam Jurgens entered the concussion protocol after reporting symptoms Monday, while Landon Dickerson remains on injured reserve. Lane Johnson’s retirement also removed the unit’s most accomplished player, although Brockermeyer is not a direct replacement for the longtime right tackle.
The Eagles have used Drew Kendall at center and moved Jurgens to left guard at times this season. Brockermeyer will begin on the practice squad, allowing Philadelphia to evaluate him while adding insurance behind its remaining interior linemen.
