The Philadelphia Eagles now have a clearer picture of the quarterback they will face Monday night.
Chicago plans to start Case Keenum against Philadelphia even though Tyson Bagent cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol Sunday morning, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported. Bagent is expected to serve as the backup. According to Glazer, the Bears decided against starting Bagent because his limited practice participation kept him from spending enough time in this week’s game plan. The Bears had already ruled out Caleb Williams with a hamstring injury.
Bagent was listed as questionable on Chicago’s final injury report. He missed the team’s first two practices of the week before returning Saturday, when he was cleared to work without limitations but remained
in the concussion protocol. That left Keenum preparing with the starting offense while Chicago waited for a final decision on Bagent’s availability.

Keenum, 38, has not started a regular-season game since 2023. He brings 66 career starts to the assignment, but Monday will be his first start in Ben Johnson’s offense. Bagent’s clearance gives Chicago an available backup if Keenum cannot finish the game.
For the Eagles, the decision removes one question from their preparation. Keenum is less likely than Williams to extend a broken play with his legs, but Philadelphia cannot assume Chicago will abandon its strengths. The Bears have averaged 212.5 rushing yards through two games, and their running backs can help keep an experienced quarterback out of difficult passing situations.
Chicago is expected to announce its official game-day lineup Monday. For now, Glazer’s report puts Keenum in line to take the first snap at Soldier Field.
