Eagles injury updates
Outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard was ruled out because of a pectoral injury. Greenard returned to practice this week but is still
working toward handling a full workload after missing training camp. Rookie tight end Eli Stowers was downgraded to out with quadriceps and hamstring injuries and subsequently placed on injured reserve. He will miss at least the first four games of the season.
The Eagles elevated Britain Covey from the practice squad for the game. Covey is a candidate to handle punt-return responsibilities while providing additional depth at wide receiver.

Philadelphia’s official inactive list is scheduled to be released at approximately 2:55 p.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff.
Greenard and Stowers will not play. The remaining inactive players will be added here once the Eagles submit their official list.
Commanders injury updates
Washington did not assign a game-status designation to any player on its final injury report. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Odafe Oweh and K’Lavon Chaisson were among the players medically cleared to play.

Washington’s official inactive list is also expected at approximately 2:55 p.m. ET. All players on the final injury report were cleared, but the Commanders will still declare healthy scratches to reach the required game-day roster limit.
Who is starting for the Eagles at safety?
Vic Fangio confirmed Marcus Epps as one of Philadelphia’s starting safeties. The Eagles can change that alignment depending on the personnel package. Cooper DeJean is expected to play safety in the base defense before moving to nickel when Philadelphia adds another defensive back. Michael Carter II gives Fangio another flexible option because he can contribute at nickel, dime, or safety.
