Jalen Hurts understands that playing quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles requires him to manage much more than the offense.
“I don’t even think words can describe how much you have to manage as a quarterback in this league,” Hurts said, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic.
That responsibility was evident throughout Philadelphia’s 24-20 comeback win over the Tennessee Titans. Hurts completed 26 of 37 passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed 70.3% of his attempts, averaged 7.1 yards per pass, and finished with an 85.9 passer rating.

He also distributed the ball to nine receivers, accomplishing that feat for only the fourth time since becoming Philadelphia’s full-time starter in 2021 and the first time since 2022. DeVonta Smith led the Eagles with 10 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Dontayvion Wicks caught all five of his late-down targets for 74 yards and five first downs. Hurts’ defining work came after Tennessee took a 20-17 lead with 1:56 remaining. Without a timeout, Hurts led a nine-play, 65-yard drive in 1:47. His 19-yard completion to Smith moved Philadelphia to the Titans’ 3-yard line with 14 seconds remaining. Five seconds later, Hurts worked through his progression and found Darius Cooper for the winning touchdown.
The performance was imperfect, particularly because of the two turnovers, but Hurts remained composed when Philadelphia’s margin for error disappeared. That was the responsibility Hurts described after the game: managing the mistakes, pressure, and expectations while keeping “the main thing the main thing.” For the Eagles, that meant leaving Tennessee with a victory and a 2-0 record.
