The Eagles signed tackle Xavier Truss and defensive tackle Zion Wilson to their practice squad Tuesday, adding depth along both lines ahead of their Week 6 matchup against Carolina. In corresponding moves, Philadelphia also released tight end Josiah Deguara and cornerback Shaun Wade from the practice squad, the team announced.
Both additions are to the practice squad. Neither was added to the active roster as part of Tuesday’s announcement.
Xavier Truss
Truss, 25, brings tackle and guard experience after six seasons at Georgia. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound lineman appeared in 67 college games with 42 starts, including starting all 14 games in his final season in 2024.
A member of Georgia’s two national championship teams, Truss earned second-team All-SEC
honors in 2023. He started 14 games at left guard in 2022 and previously started at left tackle in the Peach Bowl, giving Philadelphia a developmental lineman with experience at multiple positions.
Truss entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Denver in May 2025. New Orleans claimed him off waivers that August, and he appeared in seven games as a rookie, contributing on special teams without making a start. He also spent time with Cleveland before joining Philadelphia.
Zion Wilson
Wilson returns to Philadelphia after initially signing with the Eagles on June 5. The 6-foot-3, 316-pound defensive tackle joined the NFL following an unusual path at East Carolina, where he began as a walk-on offensive lineman before switching to defense in spring 2024.
In his first season as a starter in 2025, Wilson recorded 42 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. He intended to transfer to Virginia for another college season, but the NCAA denied his request for a sixth year of eligibility, leading him to sign with Philadelphia.
His return gives the Eagles another opportunity to develop a player whose defensive production came despite limited experience at the position.
Shaun Wade
Wade’s release ends his latest stint with Philadelphia after he rejoined the practice squad Sept. 24. The former Ohio State cornerback originally signed with the Eagles in June and delivered a productive preseason, leading the NFL with three forced fumbles while adding 18 tackles and three passes defensed.
Before returning to the NFL, Wade recorded 24 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups and a forced fumble in eight games with the UFL’s Dallas Renegades in 2026.
Baltimore selected Wade in the fifth round of the 2021 draft before trading him to New England that offseason. He appeared in 20 games over three seasons with the Patriots and later spent time on the Chargers’ and Bears’ practice squads. At Ohio State, he earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors and consensus All-America recognition in 2020.
Josiah Deguara
Deguara, 29, joined Philadelphia’s practice squad Sept. 15 and appeared in the Week 4 loss to the Rams without recording a reception.
Green Bay selected the 6-foot-2, 238-pound Cincinnati product in the third round of the 2020 draft. He spent four seasons with the Packers before playing for Jacksonville in 2024 and Arizona in 2025.
Deguara has appeared in 78 regular-season games with 12 starts, catching 53 passes for 471 yards and 3 touchdowns. His most productive receiving season came in 2021, when he caught 25 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns with Green Bay.
