The PGA Tour is on a short hiatus before the FedEx Cup Fall series kicks off, but we've gotten word of yet another 2028 tournament and its status among the new two-track system.
The RBC Heritage, one of the Tour's signature events during this current cycle, will be a Championship Series tournament when the new format gets rolled out in 2028, officials announced via social media Thursday. The event is held annually at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and, in recent years, has directly followed the Masters on the schedule.

Not counting the four majors, the Players Championship or Tour Championship, the RBC Heritage is the eighth event to be officially elevated to Championship Series status for 2028, joining the Travelers Championship, the Sompo, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Cadillac Championship, the GO by Raymond James, the Memorial Tournament and the Truist Championship.
First announced in June, the Championship Series will feature the Tour’s top performers competing across approximately 23-24 events, inclusive of the Players, the four major championships and the postseason. A full PGA Tour schedule for 2028, when the Tour's Championship Series debuts, will be announced at a later date.
