Adam Schupak: Alex Smalley (+6600)
Smalley has been one of the pleasant surprises this season with four top 10s but still seeking his first W. He's due. Warning: he has missed the cut the last three years, but he's also a member at Sedgefield, so he knows the course. If not Smalley, don't put it past 21-year-old Jackson Koivun, who was 4th last year, to win
again and don't sleep on the even younger kid, 19-year-old Blades Brown.
Todd Kelly: Ben Kohles (+5500)
Going out on a limb and picking a guy who was oh-so-close a month ago at the John Deere. He's made six straight cuts and in those events, his average finish is 17th, including another top 10 at the 3M. A Kohles win would be three in a row for first-timers on the PGA Tour. He also needs this win because at 95th in the FedEx Cup points, he's on the outside looking into the playoff picture.
Ryne Dennis: Cameron Young (+188)
Let's not overthink this. The best player in the field and defending champ who went to school just down the road at Wake Forest. He's also in the midst of the best year of his career. It'll be good momentum for him entering the playoffs.
Nick Stavas: Hideki Matsuyama (+2400)
Matsuyama is quietly putting together a really solid season, having made the cut in all 19 of his starts with 11 top-25 finishes. And he's hot as of late, with a T-5 at the Rocket last week and a T-3 at the 3M the week prior. I like the golfing pride of Japan to get the job done at Sedgefield and carry some serious momentum into the playoffs.
Tim Schmitt: Ben Griffin (+2200)
He missed the cut in Detroit last week, but Griffin has been playing well for months and I expect him to bounce back and play well. What's been the secret to Griffin's success of late? His wedges around the green have saved him plenty of strokes.
Blake Schuster: Brooks Koepka (+5000)
Koepka is essentially playing for his postseason life. Currently ranked 86th in the FedEx Cup standings, Brooks has to find a way into the Top 70 in order to qualify for the playoffs. That makes this week a massive tournament for the Big Game Hunter. Let's see if that sparks a surge up the leaderboard.
