COLUMBUS, GA — Anna Davis made sure to look at the leaderboard sitting behind the 18th green before hitting her approach shot.
She wanted to be aggressive, but to do so, the senior at Auburn wanted to make sure her advantage was large enough that a poor shot wouldn't penalize her. Her lead was four, so she went right at the back left flag. With trouble lurking left and long, the margin for error was zero. On the second-hardest hole of the day, Davis stuck it to 3 feet.
"I was feeling good about it," Davis said.
And she had good reason to be.
Davis won for the seventh time in her collegiate career Tuesday, taking the title at the 2026 Haskins Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Columbus, site of the Haskins Foundation, which is responsible for the Fred
Haskins and Annika Awards, given to college golf's players of the year. Davis put on a POTY performance Tuesday, carding a bogey-free 66 to win by five shots over Pepperdine's Eunseo Choi. In addition to her individual win, the Tigers ran away with the team title for their first win of the season.

"She truly has elevated her game," Auburn coach Melissa Luellen said. "Just such a fine level of preparation, dedication, resilience. When you watch her play, it looks like she doesn't have a heartbeat. But inside, she's like a little duck under the water. She just wants to win so badly."
Davis, who won the 2021 Augusta National Women's Amateur when she was 16, has made winning a common theme of her college career. The most decorated golfer in Auburn history continues to prove her worth every tournament, and she did again at the Country Club of Columbus, which is less than an hour from Auburn's campus.
In the inaugural Haskins Intercollegiate, Davis had only one bogey over 54 holes. Luellen said the team comes to the course about once every semester to play, but the pins this week were much more difficult than normal. That didn't bother Davis. Her approach on 18 is a great example.
With a small gallery gathered around the green, she fired a shot from 118 arguably closer than anyone had all day, a feather in a cap of a spectacular week.
"It made the course challenging, for sure," Davis said. "You had to take the course shot by shot. It's definitely a different golf course than it played before."

It may have been more difficult, but Auburn didn't make it look that way. The Tigers won by 30 shots over LSU, finishing at 24 under. Ohio State and Arkansas tied for third at 7 over with Pepperdine and SMU a shot behind those teams.
Molly Davidson tied for fourth at 5 under, Charlotte Cantonis placed T-8 at 4 under and Balma Davalos tied for 10th at 3 under. Playing as an individual, Gia Raad also tied for fourth with Davidson.
"We're just building," Luellen said. "We had two tournaments before this one, and we got shellacked. We finished second, but we weren't even close. I thought the quality of play was just really good."
