Stewart Hagestad joined an exclusive club who can say they are multiple winners of the Crump Cup.
Hagestad of Hermosa Beach, California, won the 101st Annual Crump Memorial Tournament at Pine Valley Golf Club on Sunday. He previously won the elite amateur competition in 2023. This time, he defeated Andrew Price of Lake Bluff, Illinois, in the match-play final, 3 and 2.
Just a few weeks after representing the U.S. in the Walker Cup in Northern Ireland, Hagestad beat Chris Wheeler of Lewisville, Texas, in the morning round by a score of 2 and 1. Hagestad shot 8-over 148 in 36-hole stroke-play qualifying to earn the No. 8 seed. He beat Chad Wilfong and Andrew Bailey in earlier rounds.
Price reached the final by defeating Jeronimo Esteve of Windermere,
Florida, in 19 holes, in the other semifinal match.
Randy Haag of Orinda, California, defeated Mike McCoy of Norwalk, Iowa, 5 and 3, to win the Senior Crump Cup.
Canada's Garrett Rank beat Jason Anthony, 5 and 4, to claim the second flight, and defending champion Bobby Wyatt won the third flight, 2 and 1, over Zach Van Dolah.
Gene Elliott defeated Robert Gerwin III, 3 and 2 to win the second flight of the Senior Crump Cup.
Pine Valley regained the No. 1 ranking in the latest Golfweek's Best Classic Courses list, and the Crump Cup is widely considered to be the premier mid-amateur tournament in the United States.
