The Baycurrent Classic is in its eighth season on the PGA Tour. Past champions include Tiger Woods (when it was called the Zozo Championship), Hideki Matsuyama, the local favorite, and Xander Schauffele, the defending champion.
It's the lone Tour stop to visit the nation of Japan, and it's played at Yokohama Country Club.
Round 1 is in the books with Jacob Bridgeman leading by one at 8 under after shooting 63. Jordan Smith is solo second at 7 under. The "other" Jordan, Spieth, is among those over par after 18 holes, as he's 1 over and tied for 52nd in his first action since the FedEx St. Jude Championship two months ago.
But, the good news for everyone is that there
is no cut in this 72-man field.
