When the full field was announced for the DP World Tour's BMW PGA Championship, a familiar American name wasn't on the list: Billy Horschel.
Horschel is instead competing in the PGA Tour's newest event, the 2026 Biltmore Championship Asheville
, being played in North Carolina at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. He's one of the 132 PGA Tour golfers seeking a) a win and/or b) improved status in the FedEx Cup standings for 2027.
Horschel won the BMW PGA twice, in 2021 and 2024, and has played at Wentworth Club in England every year since 2019. But the streak ended in 2026.

Horschel is No. 100 in the standings, having not posted a single top-10 this year. The Asheville is one of eight stops on the fall schedule that will allow guys like Horschel to secure a top-100 spot, or face the prospect of a lost Tour card.
Three of the players ranked just ahead of Horschel – No. 96 Ben Kohles, No. 97 Christiaan Bezuidenhout and No. 98 Tony Finau – are also in Asheville, as are the first five names currently just outside the top 100: No. 101 Lucas Glover, No. 102 Taylor Moore, No. 3 Max Greyserman, No. 104 Kris Ventura and No. 105 A.J. Ewart.
