Ryan Gerard made a run at the FedEx Cup title. Then he made a run to the airport.
Some guys just love playing golf, and Gerard is one of them. After finishing third in the Tour Championship, he gathered his things and headed to the airport to catch an overnight flight to Europe.

After finishing solo third at the TOUR Championship, Ryan Gerard is heading to the airport to catch a red eye to Switzerland.

"Well, I need to play two more DP World Tour events to maintain not being suspended from their Tour," he said. "So that was one of them."
He went on to add
that perhaps this overseas excursion could benefit him should he be chosen as one of the six captain's picks for the Presidents Cup.
"Full transparency, if I get a Presidents Cup spot, I'd love to kind of roll into there being a little bit more prepared," he said. "I like to play a lot of golf. And if I don't, I'll probably just stay over there and play Wentworth and the France Open after that."
Gerard is currently not in the projected top 15, but maybe his performance at East Lake has him on captain Brandt Snedeker's radar.
"A bit of a weird stretch of the year for me. I like playing lots of golf. I feel like I'm at my most prepared when I'm in kind of a rhythm," Gerard said. "I'll be ready for whatever the future holds, but I need to get a couple more events in."
