If Matt Fitzpatrick had a choice, he'd likely take a day like he had Sunday every single time he teed it up in a professional golf event.
Fitzy won the FedEx Open de France on the DP World Tour by three shots, closing in 70 at Le Golf National outside of Paris, which hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and 2024 Olympic golf competition. Fitzpatrick entered the day with a five-shot lead and cruised to victory, a bogey on the 72nd hole only the second blemish on his scorecard all week. He finished at 20 under, the only player to reach that total all week. The win is his 15th worldwide victory and fourth of 2026.
Fitzpatrick shot 65 in both the first and third rounds with a 64 in the second round, giving him a big cushion heading into the final day. His lead
was never in danger, even with the bogey at the last.
Angel Hidalgo finished solo second and earned a spot in the 155th Open Championship at St. Andrews next summer via the Open Qualifying Series. Defending champion Michael Kim tied for seventh at 14 under.
