The word on the total prize fund for the new WTGL league was that it would be line with a women's major. Front Office Sports reported Thursday that the purse for the inaugural season is $11 million - which is, indeed, in the ballpark of a women's major.
In fact, it's higher than the three of the five women's majors. Only the U.S. Women's Open ($12.5 million) and KPMG Women's PGA
($13 million) are higher.
The purse for the inaugural season of TGL was $21 million, with the winning team making $9 million ($2,250,000 per player). It was the same for 2026. That number is also in line with the men's majors.
The first WTGL match will kick off on Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN, featuring the Los Angeles Golf Club, led by Michelle Wie West, against Lydia Ko's
New York Golf Club. The majority of the regular season will be shown on Ion, along with ABC and ESPN2. Most of the playoffs will be on ESPN2.
Here's the complete roster of teams for the inaugural season, which runs through Dec. 23.
