The PGA Tour Champions regular season comes to a close this week at the SAS Championship. It's also the final event in the Sprint to St. Louis, a new five-tournament dash to cash.
This will be a big week for many, as only the top 72 players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings will advance to the three-tournament postseason.

Who's playing in the SAS Championship?
Defending champion Alex Cejka, two-time SAS winner Bernhard Langer and last week's winner, Vaughn Taylor, a first-time winner on the senior circuit, are all in the field, as are Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie, Jerry Kelly and Michael Block, 41st in the points after having played 16 times this year on sponsor exemptions. He's a lock for the postseason but also into Week 2 of the playoffs, which takes the top 54 in the points.
Should Block get into the top 36 and make the Schwab Cup finale, he'll earn a tour card for 2027.
Who's not playing in the SAS Championship?
This is perhaps just as interesting, as the top three in the latest Schwab points standings are all taking the week off. No. 1 Stewart Cink (5 wins), No. 2 Zach Johnson (Champions-leading 6 wins) and No. 3 Steven Alker (third with four wins) are all choosing to take the week off.
Who's on the Schwab points bubble?
Heading into the SAS Championship, here's what the standings look like around the cutoff at No. 72:
Last 5 in
No. 68 Mike Weir
No. 69 Kenny Perry
No. 70 Shane Bertsch
No. 71 Heath Slocum
No. 72 Harrison Frazar
First 5 out
No. 73 Fred Couples
No. 74 Mathew Goggin
No. 75 Tom Pernice Jr.
No. 76 Kirk Triplett
No. 77 Jeff Maggert

What is the Sprint to St. Louis?
As explained by the PGA Tour Champions:
The three players who earn the most Charles Schwab Cup points across five events become finalists at next week's Stifel Charity Classic (the first Schwab playoff event), where the finalist with the best finish wins a $200,000 bonus. Zach Johnson (708,755 points) and Steven Alker (539,755) lead the standings but are not in the field this week, leaving the third spot up for grabs in Cary. Taylor (422,245) holds the position entering the week, with Ryan Armour (367,040), Ben Crane (345,160), Tag Ridings (297,660) and Cejka (278,329) among those chasing.
