Golf’s equipment detectives have two new Wilson drivers to examine, and the clues come courtesy of the game’s rule makers.
Updates to Wilson’s DYNAPWR Carbon and DYNAPWR LS were added to the USGA’s Conforming Driver Head list this week.
Making the list means the submitted head models and lofts have been evaluated by the USGA and R&A and determined to conform to the Rules of Golf. Tournaments that adopt and use Model Local Rule G-1 require players to use listed driver heads, so for brands, getting a driver in play, this is a critical step.

While Wilson has not released official information about the clubs, the photographs on the USGA’s website offer a few clues for gearheads to think about.
Both entries list lofts of 8, 9 and 10.5 degrees. Both heads
have dark soles with prominent Wilson script, DYNAPWR branding and their respective Carbon or LS identifiers. A screw-secured weight port sits near the front of each sole, and the weight on both clubs appears to say “3 grams.” The LS photograph also clearly reveals a second port at the rear. The Carbon entry separately identifies a rear weight port in its written description, so it seems that both clubs have a forward and a read weight, which would mean the center of gravity location can likely be shifted forward and backward.

The USGA’s identification notes list “CARBON CORE” and “PKR-360” markings on both models. In last season’s DYNAPWR Max+ driver, PKR-360 referred to Peak Kinetic Response, a technology that Wilson claimed broadened the sweet spot and helped to fight distance loss on mis-hits.
Wilson has not provided a retail price, a release date or performance information about the drivers, so for now, all we know is that Wilson has more drivers available to its staff players and recreational golfers have some time to wait before hitting them.
