The inaugural WTGL season teed off Sunday at SoFi Center in Florida with a match between New York Golf Club against Los Angeles Golf Club.
The first day included some walk-up videos from the parking lot, flashy intros for the fans on hand and some funky fashion from Linn Grant, who wore knee high leather boots.
But the star of the show from Day 1 was a player no longer active on the LPGA; it was Michelle Wie West, who showed everyone she still has some game.
Early in the match, Wie West showed off her short game:

Later, Wie West almost made the first WTGL ace, with her shot on the Annika
Sorenstam-designed hole bouncing off the virtual flagstick.
Wie West couldn't believe it, dropping to her knees with her mouth agape and arms in the air.
What. A. Shot.

Drawing on her Swedish roots, Sorenstam created a striking par 3 called SOS that features icebergs and a warship in the middle of it. The SOS ship pays homage to a Swedish warship that sunk in Stockholm harbor during its maiden voyage in 1628.
