Fred Couples never ceases to amaze.
For his latest Freddie being Freddie moment, we take you to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the site of this week’s Sanford International, and event on the PGA Tour Champions.
Couples, 66, still has one of the most silky, smooth swings and when his brittle back allows it’s still a joy to watch him play. On Wednesday evening at a sponsor event, Couples participated in a closest-to-the-pin contest and Freddie went Boom Boom.
He hit a pitch shot of less than 50 yards at a flag and as only Freddie can do, he didn’t even bother to watch how things played out. In fact, he turned around and resumed having a conversation. The invited guests, however, kept their eyes glued on the ball as it caught a slope and made its ways
to the hole as if guided by GPS.
“Here it goes, here it goes,” one of the onlookers said. “Come, on Freddie.”
"Look at this," another added.
A full 10 seconds after hitting the shot, Freddie's ball disappeared in the hole and bedlam ensued. Just another case of Freddie being cooler than the other side of the pillow.
